The City of Seattle is looking for a **Python Developer (Strategic Advisor-
Legislative)** to join the Office of the City Clerk (OCC) in the Legislative
Department.
The OCC is central to government transparency and strives to instill public
confidence and encourage public engagement by ensuring that the highest
standards of integrity are met throughout the legislative process and in
management of the public record. Policymakers, lawyers, architects, planners,
scholars, students, and members of the general public throughout the city and
across the country rely on our resources to do their work and accomplish their
goals.
As a Web Developer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and building
our current systems and assisting in upcoming projects and initiative. You
will help lead our efforts in advancing access to city government data by
utilizing your coding skills and working alongside research professionals and
Clerk staff to develop solutions that leverage our data in informative ways.

##### **Job Responsibilities:**
* Maintain/update the following:
* Scripts and processes to integrate data between systems (Python, Perl, API)
* Websites and pages using a variety of tools and innovative techniques (IIS, SharePoint, Open Text)
* System and processes/ procedural documentation, training materials, and support/ troubleshooting guides
* Manage and maintain databases and systems (MSSQL, MySQL)
* Security and privacy for public facing systems
* Design, code, manage, troubleshoot, document, and maintain application software
* Research and evaluate new approaches and third-party systems
* Provide user support and training for systems and user interfaces
##### **Qualifications** :
*
At least one year of experience in each of the following:
* Using web development technologies (HTML, JSON, CSS, API, PHP) to maintain and create applications and user interfaces (to include website accessibility).
* Developing or maintaining complex public facing web sites
* Developing data-driven web content
* Programing and scripting in Python, ASP.NET, PHP
* Experience writing and maintaining code in multiple languages for web services and APIโs
* Ability to build relationships and collaborate with coworkers, internal customers, and other project team members
* Ability to take ownership of tasks/ issues and seeing them through to completion/ resolution
* Ability to independently solve complex system or technical problems by using analytical skills and logic to offer multiple creative solutions or options
* Ability to communicate with a diverse audience using excellent grammar, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
* Bachelorโs degree in Information Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field may help prepare you for this position

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:**
* Creating scripts to orchestrate data and application integration solutions (MS Batch, Python, Java, Perl, PowerShell, SQL queries)
* Using server solutions (Windows Server, IIS, VMWare)
* Developing and maintaining relational database systems (MSSQL, MySOL)
* Experience working with APIs
* Proficiency with one or more of the following: HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript or jQuery
* Knowledge of library science, research of government, legal, or historical documents
* Interest in Open Data, Open Government and Civic Technology
* Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
* Commitment to quality, productivity, and team performance
