At Cattle Care using Artificial Intelligence we increase revenue of dairy
farms, decrease GHG emissions, antibiotics and hormone usage. We secured $3.2M
in funding from serial angel investors, VCs and domain experts.
We have 70 paying customers, $1.4M ARR, our company has grown 3X in 2022 and
hit break-even. We’re looking for a Tech Lead helping us scale the business to
$10M ARR.
### The Role
We are looking for a person who will oversee our tech strategy. This role will
involve writing code, mentoring and reviewing code from developers, hiring and
developing the tech team, defining tools/architecture/process, and taking
ownership of the production infrastructure. The role reports directly to the
CEO. We're seeking a Tech Lead with the vision and potential to evolve into a
CTO role as our company expands.
You will have overall responsibility for the development of all components of
the Cattle Care software solution:
* Computer Vision component - Our software taps into a dairy’s existing security cameras, capturing video from a milking shift and uploading it for processing to the company’s servers. The company’s video analytics algorithms can spot deviations from what a producer would expect to see in a milking parlor operating at 100 percent efficiency.
Current stack for pipelines: Python3.*, Flask2.3, celery
* Annotation component - the software allows annotators to add labels and tags to the video to train our AI system to recognize objects and patterns on the video.
Current stack for Frontend: latest TypeScript + Next.js + React + Tailwind
* Back-office component - security module, management, financial reports, farm setting, API for annotation component, etc.

* Farmer’s front-office component - farmer dashboard, displaying video extracts with detected issues, graphs, and reports.

### Skills and Experience
8+ years of IT experience
Minimum 5 years of recent experience as a full-stack developer. You are hands-
on and would like to stay hands-on.
Minimum 3+ years of team leadership experience, responsible for full life
cycle delivery of complicated web-based products
Must have: experience with Python, Django, React, Docker / Docker compose,
Celery, Postgres, Nginx, Gunicorn
Nice to have: Google Cloud, Redis, TypeScript, NextJS, TailWind, CI/CD
Experience working in or with distributed teams
Previous experience in a startup environment
BS/BA or higher degree preferred.
Critical: We are a startup in the true sense of the word. And that means,
among other things, that our deadlines are always yesterday. But at the same
time, we know how detrimental technical debt can be for future development.
Therefore, it is absolutely critical for us that the Tech Lead understands and
can maintain the right balance between the quality of the code and the speed
of development.
