At Boswell, we support Medicaid members facing life's challenges by connecting
them with essential healthcare and social service resources. During these

Boswell achieves this goal by embedding a network of Advocates in local
community-based organizations (e.g. food pantries). They meet with
individuals, understand their health and social concerns, connect them with
relevant resources, and support them on a path to better health. Our emerging
technical team empowers these advocates and community health workers (CHWs)
with the best tools to do their work effectively. As Boswell begins this next
chapter of growth, the CHW tool will play a critical role in scaling up our
impact at more community-based organizations.
**Job Brief**
We are seeking a Founding Product Engineer to join our team. This role offers
a unique opportunity to build meaningful software for community health
workers, helping those who need it most. As the first hire on our founding
engineering team (alongside our CTO), you'll work closely with engineers,
designers, product managers, and the broader team to design and develop both
client-side and server-side architecture for web and mobile applications. If

**Responsibilities**
* Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to design and implement client-side and server-side architecture.
* Build front-end applications with appealing visual design.
* Develop and manage well-functioning databases.
* Write effective APIs.
* Test software to ensure reliability and performance.
* Troubleshoot, debug, upgrade, and maintain software.
* Implement security and data protection settings.
* Write technical documentation.
* Define processes and best practices.
* Participate in hiring and mentor other engineers.
**Requirements**
* Professional experience with Elixir and Phoenix in production.
* Proven experience as a full-stack developer.
* Knowledge of modern front-end and back-end stacks.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Great attention to detail.
* Passion for social impact: Feel deeply passionate about what we could do for underserved communities
* Proactiveness: Act without being told what to do. Always ready to lend a hand to help the team even if it’s outside of your role
* Growth mindset: Solicit feedback and take action to grow as a teammate
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage environment with limited resources and substantial ambiguity.
**Nice to Have**
* Startup experience, especially in taking a product from 0 to 1.
* Background in healthcare or community-focused social tech.
* Background in a high-compliance environment
* Deep familiarity with domain-driven design and event-sourced data models.
* Experience with Dart and Flutter.
