Job Description

TL;DR

What We Do - We are a digital product studio hired for our unique experience
in building companies from scratch.

The Person - We’re looking for experienced Software Engineering Manager
(Frontend) to help launch products. We want someone who likes to move fast,
iterate, learn quickly and try new things.

The Role - We have a flat structure and our engineers have a ton of autonomy
as well as responsibility to drive impact. You’ll work closely with our
partners to solve complex problems, while tapping into a network of experts to
help guide the thinking to deliver quality products quickly.

The Location - Fully remote, but we insist on company socials where we can
meet up, hang out and get to know each other on a personal level.

Boosted is on a mission to help build great companies by launching awesome
products. We work with partners at various stages but our sweet spot is the
zero to one, where we leverage our expertise to build new systems and
applications from scratch. Our approach is simple. We find out what our
customers want, figure out the smallest surface area solution for them and
build a quality version in the shortest possible amount of time. We then
Iterate to improve and get strong product market fit.

What You'll Do

* End-to-end delivery. For us, “building” happens from customer needs and problem definition to validated product market fit.
* Lead technical design discussions, build roadmaps and drive capacity planning for your team
* Assess requirements and constraints to make good decisions quickly
* Manage, mentor and guide a team of highly-skilled software engineers, and maintain a healthy, collaborative culture reflecting how we operate.
* Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to continuously drive business value
* Proactively identify and clear roadblocks
* Creatively find solutions to the systems design for us to build quickly while working with a lot of ambiguity
* Uphold standards for quality by performing code reviews, fixing bugs, and monitoring performance.

The Ideal Candidate

* 8+ years experience in software engineering
* 2+ years managing and mentoring teams
* Experience architecting sustainable and maintainable front-end applications using TypeScript and NextJS
* You’re product focused: what you ultimately care about solving customer problems and delivering product outcomes
* If the idea of an afternoon with drinks & snacks, brainstorming the tech architecture to solve a complex problem, excites you - you’ll be a perfect fit.

* You’re naturally curious: you ask “why” a lot, and will never do something “just because”
* You think the best way to learn is to do it. You like to move fast, ship often, learn and iterate.
* You have experience with strongly typed languages, as well as building RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
* You are growth minded and stay on top of trends in the industry, and familiarize yourself with new tech.
* You’re comfortable with ambiguity and things changing on a regular basis. Iteration happens a lot.
* Very strong communicator verbal, written, visual or otherwise, you know how to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
* Experience navigating ambiguity and defining work that engineers of all levels can execute on
* A passion for architecting and building highly scalable, reliable, and performant software
* Keen on test automation, SLA and other key software engineering metrics
* Prior experience of working within regulatory frameworks

How we operate at Boosted

We are mission focused and think big, nothing is impossible. We care about
impact and obsess over the problems we need to solve. To stay focused on the
work and steer clear of company politics and back channelling, we insist on
radical transparency and direct feedback from every person on the team. We
have a bias for action (+ learning) and believe that in today’s environment of
uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity the best approach to progress is
experimentation and rapid iteration. Speed matters. We think holistically and
our collective experience of building companies from scratch and scaling them,
comes with important learned lessons. We therefore know how to solve short
term problems today with the bigger picture in mind. Most important - we have
fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we choose to be around each
other everyday.
