### Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own delivery of key product
features and scale our reach to hundreds of thousands of renters. Depending on
your experience, interests and business needs, you will own the front-end,
back-end, or full stack design and development of product features, building
scale, efficiency, and differentiated customer experiences. We’re looking for
senior software engineers that are passionate about building software
solutions end-to-end and have strong software development and system design
experience delivering at-scale solutions. You should have a demonstrated
ability across the SDLC from scoping requirements, requirement analysis,
design, development, test, deployment, security, implementation, and
operational excellence with the ability to work cross-functionally with
Product Managers, business stakeholders and other tech teams through project
launch. You should also have experience in communicating with users, other
technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software
product features, and technical designs.

### What you'll do

* Own the development, launch, testing, and maintenance of new products and features, working with the founders, head of product, designers, and the engineering team
* Mentor junior software engineers and drive sound development and documentation practices
* Work within agile development to translate user stories and requirements into functioning applications and able to prioritize/think through must-have, nice-to-have, or irrelevant
* Write effective APIs and integrate with other systems and services
* Play an integral role in establishing the engineering team and company culture

### What you'll need

* 5+ years of non-internship software development experience including the full SDLC including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
* Experience with multiple modern front-end languages and libraries, and back-end languages. Our stack today is React Native and Ruby API
* Familiarity with databases (including PostgreSQL)
* 5+ years leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new or existing systems
* Strong customer focus, including empathy for end user needs, such as those of low/moderate-income renters
* Ability to balance tradeoffs between technical needs and business outcomes
* Ability to operate in situations where information or requirements change constantly
* Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
* (bonus) Fintech and/or payments experience
