Job Description

About Us

At Sprinter Health, we are on a mission to dramatically improve health
outcomes for millions of people who fall through the cracks of American
healthcare.

To access healthcare today, people have to take 3 hours off from work (often
unpaid), drive or bus across town, hunt for parking, find room 714B in a
labyrinth of a clinic, and then wait in room after room. How is this
considered normal—all just to get something checked out?

We rethought all this: What if 80% of the things you do at clinics could be
done in the convenience of people’s homes? What if we redesigned the
healthcare experience around the person receiving services (rather than the
convenience of fax machines and clinical interfaces from 1988)?

We now dispatch the highest quality, friendly medical professionals directly
from patient home to patient home (think ‘DoorDash for healthcare’) making it
so simple and convenient that we’re able to reach people who would otherwise
not have gone in. Every time we sprint to a home is a chance to catch diseases
early enough to make a difference.

About the Role:

We’re at a critical stage in our company’s trajectory and are eager to hire
our first in-house legal expert. This experienced professional will be a key
member of the leadership team and report to the CEO. This role will serve as
the primary legal advisor to the organization, providing strategic guidance
and oversight on all legal matters - shaping the company's legal strategies,
managing risk, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys doing both the strategic and
tactical work.

We are open to this being a remote role, but preference will be given to Bay
Area candidates that are willing to commute to the Menlo Park office a few
times per week.

What you will do:

* Develop and implement the company's overall legal strategy to support business objectives and growth.
* Oversee day-to-day legal matters of the company, including contract terms negotiation, corporate governance, compliance, risk mitigation, and intellectual property.
* Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including partnerships, collaborations, licensing agreements, and vendor contracts.
* Create and manage a strategy for how Sprinter can participate in policy discussions with local and national stakeholders.
* Provide guidance on corporate governance matters, including board meetings, corporate policies, and compliance with relevant regulations.
* Manage corporate governance documents, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
* Stay current with relevant industry regulations and laws impacting the healthcare tech sector.
* Advise and manage the company's intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
* Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
* Oversee litigation matters and work with external counsel as needed.
* Provide guidance on data protection and privacy laws, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
* Advise the Quality and Compliance teams, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive team members to provide legal insights and support for various business initiatives.
* Ensure contracts align with the company's goals and minimize legal risks.

About you:

* Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in one or more U.S. jurisdictions (California would be ideal).
* Minimum of 7-10 years of legal experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
* Strong background in technology, healthcare, healthcare IT, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and experience with Professional Corporation structures in medical and healthcare contexts.
* Experience and knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, risk assessment, policy and contract reviews, and a proven track record of successfully managing legal matters, negotiating contracts, and claims resolution.
* Proven experience managing and leading legal and risk and compliance teams.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Thrives in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and growing environment and seeks to work in a collaborative framework.
* Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
* Preferred experience in payor contracts.

The Fun Stuff

* Health insurance benefits (PPO / HMO / HSA, 100% of family premiums paid)
* Fully covered membership in One Medical for on-demand primary care, and Teladoc for 24/7 virtual care
* Dental / vision/wellness benefits
* 401k matching
* Unlimited PTO
* Generous parental leave (4 months for the birthing parent, 2 months for a partner, 100% paid)
